While many may not have heard of this platform, if you’ve explored online dating, you might have come across it—especially in the US and Latin America.

So, how does this dating site/app perform? Should you try it? Here’s my honest Kismia review after using it for over a month.

How to Sign up for the Kismia Dating App?

• Download the Kismia app. It’s available for both Android and iOS. However, if you don’t want to use the app, you can use the site version.

• Now open the app, or go to the website and click on Get Started or Create Account.

• On the website, you can directly create an account using Facebook. However, if you don’t want to share Facebook info, then simply click on Create Account.

• From here, the steps are similar on the website and app. Now, choose your gender and who you want to meet. Now, Kismia will ask a few questions, like Does your partner’s zodiac sign matter? Do your partner’s political views matter? Are shared food preferences important to you? and so on.

• After answering these questions, you have to enter your name, date of birth, marital status, and others. You can also choose a preferred age for matches.

• Now, you have to again answer a few more questions, like What are you most passionate about?, personality type, first date idea, and so on.

• Now, you have to upload your photos and tell about yourself, like the language you speak, your ethnicity, whether you drink alcohol or smoke, your education level, your career field, and an icebreaker question.

• You also have to add your interests and share some personal facts.

• Now, Kismia will show you some profiles, and you can either like or dislike them.

• After all that, Kismia will process your profile and show you the number of profiles who are ready to chat with you.

• While it’s not necessary, the app will ask you to verify your account. You can skip it, but I would recommend you proceed with verification because it makes your profile more authentic.

• To verify your profile, you just have to copy the gesture that you see in the image and take a selfie. Submit the photo and your profile will be verified within 10 seconds if you do it correctly.

• Finally, your profile is now ready, and you can start swiping and exploring the profiles.

Setting Up the Profile

To set up your profile, you don’t have to do anything extra because Kismia has already asked you everything needed to complete your profile.

My profile completion score was 75% because I had only uploaded two photos. When I added one more photos (a total of three), my score went up to 100%.

How to Chat with Anyone on Kismia?

To chat with anyone, you first need to be matched. Unlike the SayHi dating app, where you can chat without being matched, the connection must be made from both sides on Kismia.

However, you can send one highlight a day. A highlight is basically a comment on a photo, which will be sent as a message.

Now, coming to the most important question—can you chat for free on Kismia?

Unfortunately, you can’t. I was surprised to see this and wasn’t expecting it, given Kismia’s great design and user experience.

Even if you are matched with someone, you simply can’t send even a single message. Yes, you can like their message, just like on WhatsApp, but to send a text and start a conversation, you have to pay.

User Interface & Experience

The first thing I immediately liked about Kismia is its design and UI. Whether it’s the app or the website, Kismia looks modern and appealing.

It feels fresh with modern icons, a well-chosen color scheme, and smooth navigation. Even when you go to Settings, Chats, or Explore Profiles, everything feels modern.

Another thing I noticed is that there are very few ads. In fact, I haven’t noticed any ads so far. However, you will constantly see pop-ups prompting you to upgrade to a premium membership.

Overall, I really liked the design and UI of Kismia.

Kismia Features

First, let’s talk about the free features—what you can do on Kismia without paying.

• Explore and Like Profiles: You can browse all profiles for free and like them as well. I swiped right on an average of 20 profiles per day and never ran out of likes, so the daily limit is more than enough.

• Soulmates: This feature helps you discover the most compatible people, available in the Soulmate tab. The list updates daily.

• Set Filters: You can adjust your interests and search for a specific age group without any restrictions.

• Like a Message: If someone messages you, you can like their message. However, you won’t be able to reply in the free version.

• One Highlight: You can send one highlight per day to any profile. A highlight is essentially a comment on a photo, which appears as a message.

Now, coming to the premium features—the most important ones:

• Unlimited Texting: Once you upgrade, you can send unlimited messages to all your matches.

• Change Location: If you want to explore matches in different locations, you can do so.

• See Who Liked You: The premium version lets you view profiles of people who have liked you.

• Chat with Online Users: You can message people who are currently online, increasing your chances of getting a quick response.

• Reaction Reverse: If you accidentally swipe left on someone, you can undo your action.

Kismia offers many more features, but these are the ones most users find useful.

Profiles Quality: Genuine or Fake?

After creating an account, I started to get likes within 2 minutes. Because I have used so many dating sites and apps, I know these are bots, not actual profiles.

After 24 hours, I had 20 matches and 9 other likes. Out of 20 matches, I guarantee that 15 were fake. Yes, 5 were genuine, but they also felt fake in the rush of other fake profiles.

Does it mean Kismia only has fake profiles?

Absolutely not. Kismia also has genuine profiles. If you are concerned, then you can simply talk to the verified users, who are genuine. Such users are the ones who engage in real conversations. The rest just want to trick you for money.

I got many messages, but they were just icebreakers. Out of so many messages, only one felt genuine because it had my name and was written in a human-like manner.

I completely understand that the number of fake profiles changes with location. You may or may not see fake profiles, depending on your location.

But in my case, I have seen too many fake profiles on Kismia.

Is Kismia Dating Site and App Free?

As I have mentioned earlier, Kismia is free to use, but only certain features are free.

In my honest opinion, we should at least have the option to send messages to our matches for free. There is no point in getting matched with anyone if you can’t send even a single text.

So, while certain features are free, most are locked behind a paywall.

My Real-life Experience

When I was creating my account, I was optimistic that Kismia would offer a fun and unique experience. The fact that they ask so many questions to understand your personality sets it apart from many dating apps and sites.

However, after creating my account, I was quickly disappointed by receiving bot likes. As I explored further and checked out more profiles, my disappointment grew because I encountered an overwhelming number of fake profiles.

Things got even worse when I realized I couldn’t send messages without paying.

While I genuinely liked the design, the overall feel, and some of the free features, my experience turned out to be average.

The recurring payment required to send texts and the prevalence of fake profiles really left a negative impression.

Is Kismia worth it? Should you try the Kismia dating site?

Kismia offers some unique features and an appealing design, but the presence of fake profiles and the inability to send messages without paying can detract from the overall experience.

In my opinion, Kismia is worth trying if you’re comfortable paying for a subscription. Without it, however, the platform loses its value—no matter how many likes or matches you get, if you can’t message anyone, those interactions are essentially useless.
