Moreover, a survey of Hinge users found that 63% of daters faced difficulties in deciding what to include in their profiles. As a result, many end up using generic, one-word, or predictable answers, making it hard for others to get to know them.

So, while the Prompt Feedback feature may not be absolutely essential, it’s a valuable addition. It helps users enhance their profiles and improve their chances of getting more meaningful matches—aligning perfectly with the core purpose of a dating app.

What is Hinge’s Prompt Feedback Feature?

Just like a job interview, a Hinge prompt is a question that serves as a conversation starter on the app. A better answer attracts more attention, but many users struggle because they’re unsure what to answer.

That’s where Hinge’s Prompt Feedback feature comes in. It helps guide you to write better responses, making your profile more authentic and engaging.

The company has clarified that the Prompt Feedback feature is powered by the ChatGPT 4.o model and provides three levels of guidance:

1. Great Answer: Your response is perfect as it is—no changes needed.
2. Try a Small Change: Make minor tweaks to improve your answer.
3. Go a Little Deeper: Add more details to express your true self.

Keep in mind that if the feature suggests changes and you choose not to make them, you can still save your answer and proceed.

Wondering how this feature gives suggestions? Prompt Feedback uses AI, powered by insights from Hinge’s team of PhD behavioural scientists, to evaluate your prompt answers and provide feedback.

It doesn’t tell you exactly what to say. Instead, it offers guidance to help you stand out in a genuine and engaging way.

Essentially, you write everything yourself, and this feature will simply let you know if your answer is good or if it needs improvements.

How to Use Hinge’s Prompt Feedback Feature?

• Tap on the profile icon at the bottom right corner.
• Next, tap the edit button (the pencil icon) at the top of your profile picture.
• The edit profile page will open, where you can update your photos, bio, and prompts.
• Select the text prompt you want to answer and start writing your response.
• Once you’re done, an icon will appear at the bottom of the text field with the text ‘Get feedback.’
• Tap on it, and you’ll receive one of three feedback options from the AI: ‘Great Answer,’ ‘Try a Small Change,’ or ‘Go a Little Deeper.’
• As you add more information, the feedback will update.

Does Hinge’s Prompt Feedback Feature Make a Difference in Real Life?

The Prompt Feedback feature was launched on January 15, 2025, and I started using it on January 17. Since I’ve only used it for two days, I haven’t seen any major boost in getting more likes on prompts or matches on the app yet.

However, it’s still too early to judge whether this feature will make a significant difference. Over time, I believe it will have a positive impact.

It may work for some users and not for others, but overall, I’m confident it will help create better and longer-lasting matches on Hinge.
